I would guess the tree is some sort of ficus. That is wonderful tree to climb around. I'm sure my children would be thrilled to around such a tree.

Wow! That is a huge tree!! And in regard to your question on my Wednesday blog post: unfortunately no, my parents (the grands) don't live near by. Those pictures were taken at our recent trip to the beach where we got to spend a week with them. Normally we live a 6 hour drive away.
yes- the tree is at least 100 years old.sad that the grandpparents are far away- except 6 hours is better than I (pity party starting now....) My parents are 17 hours away and his parents are 10,000 (?) miles away thank goodness for Skype
