  1. Just FYI- the date for re-entry with Rome assumes that for the most part, the majority of that country's church stayed Orthodox

  2. Here's a link about the Church in Egypt- very, very sad-

  3. One of my husband's coworkers is a Christian from Egypt and my husband was telling me what his coworker had heard from relatives. Lord, have mercy!

  4. Thanks for the diagram. Would you mind if post it on Light of the East (Kind Conversation)?

Just reading about Egypt on persecution.org... so sad...

  5. Maureen- I don't have a source for the diagram (although it is all common knowledge/history, I think it would fall under copyright-free

  6. Did you find this on ByzCath? I think that's where I found my copy....

By the way, there's going to be something on NPR today re: how the Church is funding adult stem cell research...but they said "Roman Catholic Church." Which made me laugh, because if the money is coming from the Vatican, wouldn't that be the entire CATHOLIC church?

  7. I've seen an old poster of the Eastern Rites of the Catholic Church in a Latin-rite parish once. I try to educate all my RCIA-comers and my marriage-prep couples about the Eastern Rites. Does anyone happen to know somewhere I could get a poster about the Eastern Rites for my Latin-rite parish?

  8. I am using it for my website to further introduce Roman Catholics to other options and their Byzantine family. It is a very good educational tool.

    Thanks.

  9. Coincidentally (?) the Holy Father's general prayer intention for November is:

That the Eastern Catholic Churches and their venerable traditions may be known and esteemed as a spiritual treasure for the whole Church.

    God bless you,

    Mister D.

  11. We just received memory cards from Classically Catholic memory-- it helps me (the homeschool mom) get all of this straight in my mind. Maybe this chart should also be memorized this year..... F

  12. I wonder why there's no date for the Slovak Church?

  13. Priest's Wife, Could you please explain to this Catholic Newbie what this diagram is about? I know about the Eastern Right churches-but how does this correlate to the heading on your post?

  14. just a mouse- When I saw this chart- and saw all the varying dates when parts of the East came back to unity with Rome (just as parts of the West are coming back to Rome with the Anglican ordinate)- a phrase from the Jewish Passover came to me- they say 'next year, in Jerusalem' in hope that they will celebrate the Passover in Jerusalem- I used this as the title of the post as a way of saying 'Someday, we will all be unified'...I could have kept it simple and just labeled it 'Church chart' ;)

  15. No, you shouldn't have labeled it church chart- knowing the meaning of the line makes the longing clear. It's an apropos title. It's a beautiful title.
