A Blessed Byzantine Advent

Advent (St. Philip's Fast) begins on Monday for Byzantine Catholics. This is a time of both penance and preparation for the nativity of our Lord, Jesus Christ. May the light of Christ be with all! (artwork by churchads.net)

  2. Louise- Do you have any favorite Advent songs? In the old country- hair grows on your backside if you sing Christmas songs too early! :)

  3. Ummm, no one mentioned this at Liturgy yesterday!!!!!!!! We even had TWO priests instead of one. (Unless they assumed that everyone knew/remembered.)

  4. Rabbit- maybe your eparchy (diocese) has decided to go with a more Western calendar??? or-yah- they assumed everybody knew.

As I said in my most recent post- life is like a see saw, balancing between fasts and feasts- so we fast as much as we feast- Happy Advent!

  5. Hmmm, I'm Eparchy of Passaic, if that means anything. Priest is newly ordained, maybe he forgot? lol The other priest is older, maybe he forgot, too. But nothing in bulletin...and I don't remember the other parish we attended saying anything about Advent, ever. Hmm. (Note to self: Discuss w/ DH tonight)
