People never seem to remember that in the parable of the sheep and the goats that welcoming strangers is one of the good works mentioned. Hospitality seems to be a forgotten Christian virtue. "Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it." Hebrews 13:2
I don't know where you found this, but I just love it! One of my great prayer during all of Lent is that those who come back to church for Easter might find the home they have been missing.
Though it's always crowded, the good thing about it is that there are so many kids that never come to church and have no idea how to act, that mine look positively angelic in comparison! As opposed to Holy Thursday, which I have skipped for several years but finally went back this year, because I love that Mass, but my kids were terrors!
That picture is from last Easter, so I should probably update it. They look sweet, but pew-climbing, running in the aisles, and "outside voice" talking are our usual problems at church.
Normally my older daughter sits with my husband in the choir loft. Removed from pews and her sister, she behaves herself very well. But on Holy Thursday, the choir was sitting in the old choir stalls behind the altar, so I had to have both girls in the pews with me. Easter was crowded, but just fine except for my younger daughter's very loud, "Mommy! I have to go to the bathroom! Tinkle is COMING OUT!"
Hi PW, I liked the cartoon so I 'borrowed' it for my own blog! I did put a link to your blog by way of a trade, though ... a blessed Pascha to you, Father husband, & all in your family.
...so even if the visitors/guest are in 'your' seat, be kind! ;)
ReplyDeleteGood reminder!

ReplyDeleteMay God grant you a most blessed Easter!
Faith is a gift- but we can certainly help those searching or visiting by being kind!

ReplyDeletehaha- from the photo in your profile- your kids are angels!
DeleteIt really depends with mine- sometimes a different Mass is extra interesting and the little ones behave better
