A fact that might interest you concerning our new Holy Father:
He was concurrently named ordinary for Eastern Catholics in Argentina, who lacked their own prelate. So he can, presumably, celebrate the Divine Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom.
yes- it is exciting that he already has a connection to the East...but as Bishop of Rome and Successor to Peter, he is able to celebrate all rites (whether he does is his choice about what is practical and prudent)- it was beautiful praying for him yesterday at the Presanctified Liturgy
His first public speech was just amazing. He speaks Italian with a lovely Spanish accent and he is modest and "human" as every clergyman should be and he refused to wear a golden Cross and kept his own iron one. For sure he will make great things! Viva Papa Francesco! :)
