Just thought...Thanks for the beautiful reflection.

Just thought I'd also bring out the apostolic dimension that exists in this feast, in the troparion of Pentecost, from the Byzantine Liturgy:

"Blessed art Thou, O Christ our God, Who hast revealed the fishermen as most wise by sending down upon them the Holy Spirit - through them Thou didst draw the world into Thy net. O Lover of Man, glory to Thee! "

The Holy Spirit comes and unites the Church and gives her the ability to go out and "draw the world into thy net."

Also note the phrase "Lover of Man". This a title of Christ that appears many times the Byzantine liturgy, one that has always touched me deeply, given how it reveals his deep personal love for us.

(for those interested, some excerpts from Pentecost Liturgies at one Byzantine Catholic Church:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4o8bTFfe_r4

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGCkntW2B-o
)Baron Muckihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00598483796221334060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-902102460517670809.post-36935372508371817212011-06-15T17:31:49.404-05:002011-06-15T17:31:49.404-05:00A good plan!A good plan!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
