They do ALL the smells and bells at Our Savior! It was wonderful. The readings were all chanted (I think some of them in Latin?), the church was completely dark before the candles were lit and we left our candles burning long into the service. When the Gloria was sung, the bells pealed out in wonderful cacophony as the statue covers were lifted. It was ethereal and truly celebratory.

My husband and I were confirmed in our tiny parish in southern Illinois this Easter Vigil. Our kids were both there and it was a celebration weekend. The mass, though not as stunningly beautiful as last year, was a celebration all the same. I'm anxious to go read Part II.Sandy C.https://www.blogger.com/profile/15724518800430532026noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-902102460517670809.post-72177217028211700782011-04-28T14:55:50.448-05:002011-04-28T14:55:50.448-05:00Priest's Wife: Yes, a lay cantor can sing the ...Priest's Wife: Yes, a lay cantor can sing the Exultet. It's not ideal and a lay cantor has to omit certain parts that are only appropriate when coming from the mouth of the clergy. Still, my husband sang it for me for several years when the parish at which I was music director had no deacons and a priest who couldn't carry a tune in a bucket.Alicenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-902102460517670809.post-38433499337991435152011-04-27T19:12:57.054-05:002011-04-27T19:12:57.054-05:00anonymous- so sorry!
